PARIS (November 21, 2016) — International law firm McDermott Will & Emery advised Biocorp, a French company specializing in the development and manufacture of innovative medical and drug delivery devices, on its strategic collaboration with Aguettant for the launch of Apokonnect .

Aquettant is a laboratory specialized in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of essential medicines for hospitals.

Shearman & Sterling advised OneLNG in connection with the agreement to establish a joint venture with a wholly owned subsidiary of Ophir Energy plc to facilitate the development, financing and operation of the Fortuna FLNG Project in offshore Equatorial Guinea. The Shearman & Sterling team has worked on all aspects of the project since March 2015.

Corbion joint venture with Total

Total and Corbion are joining forces to develop bioplastics by creating a 50/50 joint venture to produce and market polylactic (PLA) polymers. The two partners plan to build a world-class PLA polymerization plant with a capacity of 75,000 tons per year at Corbion's site in Thailand that already has a lactide (PLA monomer) production unit that will become part of the joint venture. Corbion will supply the lactic acid necessary for the production of the PLA and the lactide.

Eurus Energy and YARD ENERGY join forces in expanding wind energy business

Eurus Energy and YARD ENERGY clinched a long-term collaboration for the joint development of wind farm projects. The partnership kicks off with the acquisition by Eurus Energy of a majority stake in the portfolio of operational onshore wind farms in the Netherlands and Finland developed by YARD ENERGY. Baker & McKenzie's Energy Mining & Infrastructure team acted as legal adviser for Eurus Energy in the transactions. The team is led by Weero Koster.

The team led by Düsseldorf-based partners Dr. Wolfgang Kühn and Dr. Martin Imhof advised Duisburger Hafen AG on establishing a logistics joint venture with Turkish ARKAS group. duisport group is the operating company of Duisburg Port, the world's largest inland container hub and the largest trimodal hinterland hub in Europe with combined transport to more than 80 direct destinations in Europe and Asia. Turkish ARKAS Group managed by ARKAS Holding S.A. is operating in shipping (shipping company and agency), port and terminal operations, and logistics services.

Ashurst acts as the lead counsel in the largest single India retail real estate deal

Ashurst acted as the lead counsel to APG Strategic Real Estate Pool N.V. in the formation of a US$450 million joint venture company and concurrent acquisition of an initial seed portfolio of three shopping malls in India comprising approximately 3.5 million square feet across three flagship centres in Bengaluru, Surat and Chennai. APG has provided 77% of the equity for a majority shareholding in the joint venture with Xander investing the balance of 23%.

McDermott Will & Emery advised Dynacure, a new company specialized in rare neuromuscular disorders, on a partnership with Kurma Partners, Indinvest Partners, SATT Conectus and Ionis Pharmaceuticals.

In its first drug discovery program, Dynacure is partnering with Ionis to use Ionis’ innovative antisense platform to develop a new therapeutic approach for treating rare myopathies linked to a target identified by the academic group of Jocelyn Laporte at the IGBMC (Institute of Genetic and Molecular and Cellular Biology), of which Dynacure is a spin-off.

Shearman & Sterling Advises Xander on Joint Venture With APG to Invest $450 Million in Retail Assets

Shearman & Sterling advised The Xander Group Inc. (Xander) on the establishment of a joint venture with APG Strategic Real Estate Pool N.V. (APG) for investment in retail developments in India and the related US$300 million acquisition by the joint venture company Virtuous Retail South Asia Pte. Ltd. (Virtuous Retail) of an initial portfolio of three retail assets from a Xander-sponsored fund.

APG and Xander have also committed an additional US$150 million, which will be used to expand the investment portfolio of Virtuous Retail.

On 20 October 2016, advised by King & Wood Mallesons (“KWM”), Columbia Pacific China Healthcare Fund. L.P. (“Columbia China”) officially signed an agreement with Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (“Temasek”) on establishing a joint venture and investing in China's healthcare service market. KWM acted as Columbia China’s PRC legal counsel in this transaction. With a total investment of US$250 million from Temasek, Columbia China will further expand its business in China.
