Baker & McKenzie Advises SNI on the Reinforcement of its Historical Partnership with LafargeHolcim

Casablanca and Paris, March 18, 2016 – The Baker & McKenzie teams in Casablanca and Paris advised Société Nationale d’Investissement (SNI) on the reinforcement of its strategic partnership with LafargeHolcim.  This partnership is now made up of two separate parts: the merger in Morocco of Lafarge Ciments and Holcim Maroc, and the creation in Sub-Saharan French-speaking Africa of a common development subsidiary.

Pinsent Masons has advised Jockey Club Racecourses on its new commercial partnership with healthcare company Randox Health.

Randox Health will become the new Official Partner of the Grand National, and the three-day Grand National Festival staged at Aintree Racecourse, in a five-year deal starting in May.

Randox Health is a world leader in healthcare diagnostics; today more than 5% of the world’s population receives medical diagnosis using Randox products each year.

Successful with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek: Rottweil district signs cooperation agreement with Deutsche Telekom AG

On March 10, 2016, the cooperation agreement on the public portion of broadband expansion was signed between the district of Rottweil and Deutsche Telekom AG, setting the foundation to successfully digitalize the region. 64,000 households and some 2,500 industrial parks in the district's 21 municipalities are expected to have access to broadband by December 2017, with fast Internet featuring bandwidths of between 30 and 100 Mbit/s.

DLA Piper advised Althoff Beratungs- und Betreuungsgesellschaft mbH on a joint venture between Althoff Hotels with Keystone Lodging Holdings Limited. The purpose of the joint venture is the establishment of a system under which Keystone Lodging Holdings Limited is entitled to establish and operate hotels under the brand "Ameron" via sub-franchisees in the countries Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Macao, der Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Hannes Snellman Counsel to Veolia in a JV with Neste and Borealis

Neste, Veolia and Borealis completed on 15 March 2016 a transaction under which the parties have agreed to create a joint venture company to build a new combined heat and power plant ("power plant") and produce and supply steam and other utilities to Neste's refinery and Borealis' petrochemical plant in Porvoo, Finland. The company, Kilpilahti Power Plant Limited ("KPP") will be owned 40% each by Neste and Veolia and 20% by Borealis. Neste will contribute the current power plant to the joint venture company.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises Canada Pension Plan Investment Board on £1bn development

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) on its £1bn Paradise Circus development in Birmingham with Hermes Investment Management. The project is one of the largest redevelopments in the UK and will see the transformation of the strategically placed site in the centre of Birmingham.

Herbert Smith Freehills advised on the corporate real estate, real estate, construction and tax aspects of the transaction including the joint venture arrangements, and associated development/asset management arrangements.

DLA Piper advises Greater Wellington on ground-breaking rail partnering contract

DLA Piper has advised Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) and its subsidiary Greater Wellington Rail Limited (GWRL) on a new contract for Wellington’s rail services and train maintenance.

Transdev Wellington Ltd has been awarded the metro rail contract by transport authority GWRC - the first performance-based partnering contract in Wellington under the new Public Transport Operating Model. It is expected to take effect in July 2016.
