Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz Advises Part-Time-Scientists GmbH

As sole German team, the Part-Time-Scientists GmbH (“PTS”) takes part in the “Google Lunar XPrize” competition. In this competition, prizes carrying a total value of over USD 30 Million are up for grabs. The challenge is to develop a privately funded Moon Rover and to send it to the moon, where it has to complete specific tasks on the lunar surface. The Rover developed by PTS is set to land on the moon until the end of 2017. In the course of the project, PTS  sought to agree on a cooperation with Audi regarding a sponsorship by the latter.

Clifford Chance advises Airbus on wide-body aircraft completion and delivery centre with joint venture partners in Tianjin, China

Clifford Chance has advised Airbus on a framework agreement for the extension of its A320 single-aisle aircraft final assembly line in Tianjin, China, with its Chinese partners Tianjin Free Trade Zone Investment Company Ltd and Aviation Industry Corporation of China, to include a completion and delivery centre for wide-body twin-aisle A330 aircraft. The A330 completion and delivery centre will be located near the site of the A320 final assembly line, and will cover aircraft completion activities including cabin installation, aircraft painting, engine run and flight tests.

McCann FitzGerald advises Schibsted Media Group on online classifieds venture with Distilled Media

McCann FitzGerald advised Schibsted Media Group, an international media group listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, in connection with the establishment of an on online classifieds joint venture with Irish online media company, Distilled Media. The new company, Digital Media Ventures Limited, will have a leading position in the generalist, cars and real estate segments in Ireland by combining the DoneDeal.ie, Daft.ie and Adverts.ie sites.

King & Wood Mallesons advises Aquila Capital on its joint venture with Inmoglaciar

King & Wood Mallesons has advised the German Fund Aquila Capital on its joint venture with the real estate group Inmoglaciar.

The joint venture was established to participate in the public procurement tender process set up by SEPES Entidad Púbilica Empresarial de Suelo for the acquisition of 9 plots of land located in Villaverde (South of Madrid), with a total area of 52,500 m2 of land and 120,425 m2 of buildable space, and the subsequent development on those plots of approximately 1,200 dwellings, which are subject to publicly subsidised regimes.

Noerr advises on joint venture to establish an R&D centre

One of the world’s largest rail vehicle manufacturers, CRRC (China), is massively expanding its research and development (R&D) division and is focussing here on the establishment of R&D centres in Europe. A Noerr team advised the CRRC subsidiary CSR Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd. on the incorporation of a joint venture for the establishment of an R&D centre for lightweight construction and new materials in Dresden.

Qualcomm Incorporated and Novartis launched drx Capital

Qualcomm Incorporated, through one of its affiliates, and Novartis launched dRx Capital AG, a Swiss based joint venture investment company, with a capital commitment up to $100 million. The joint venture will invest in early-stage companies leveraging the extensive networks in pharma, mobile/IT, and the investment community of the two JV owners.

Lenz & Staehelin advises Qualcomm in this matter. The team comprises partner Tino Gaberthüel and senior associate Dominik Kaczmarczyk.

Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised Singapore Technologies Telemedia Pte Ltd (ST Telemedia), a Singapore-based global investor, on a strategic investment in Virtus Data Centres, the UK's fastest growing data centre provider.

Under the partnership ST Telemedia, through its wholly owned subsidiary, STT GDC Pte. Ltd, will make a significant investment into Virtus, committing to a 49% stake via a joint venture with Virtus's existing owner Brockton Capital. The new investment from ST Telemedia will be used to fund Virtus's continued growth and footprint expansion in the UK.

Travers Smith intellectual property and technology partner Dan Reavill has advised Pure Gym on a sponsorship and investment agreement with Sir Chris Hoy, the winner of six Olympic gold medals.

Under the deal, Britain’s most successful Olympian will partner with Pure Gym as both an investor and an ambassador for the brand.  He will also be acting as a consultant to the business on training expertise and the development of Pure Gym’s offering.
