DWF advises Sofology on DFS deal

International legal business DWF has advised retail chain Sofology Ltd on its proposed buy-out deal by DFS.

Sofology is a specialist sofa retailer with a network of 37 stores in the UK which, together with a strong web presence, offers customers a technology-led omni-channel proposition.

DFS is the UK's market leading retailer of living room and upholstered furniture, operating a retail network of living room furniture stores in Britain and Europe, together with an online channel.

Osborne Clarke advises the shareholders of Love Home Swap on sale to Wyndham Hotel Group

Osborne Clarke has advised the shareholders of London-based sharing economy start-up, Love Home Swap, on its sale to RCI, a division of the Wyndham Hotel Group.

Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Debbie Wosskow and her brother, Ben Wosskow, Love Home Swap is one of the world’s largest home exchange platforms and had been backed by MMC Ventures. RCI’s acquisition of Love Home Swap builds upon an investment it made in the company in 2015 and will continue to run the business as an independent brand.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Ltd. (‘Hutchison Telecommunications’) on the sale of its fixed-line telecommunications business Hutchison Global Communications Investment Holding Ltd. (‘HGC’) to a unit of global private equity fund I Squared Capital for US$1.86bn (HK$14.5bn).

Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp) and Chiltern announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which LabCorp will acquire Chiltern in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.2bn. Upon completion of the transaction, Chiltern will become part of LabCorp’s Covance Drug Development segment.

Hill Dickinson has advised the shareholders of Boweld Truck Bodies on its sale to German-based manufacturer Meiller.

Boweld is a Deeside-based manufacturer of steel tipping bodies and auxiliary equipment for trucks. The company, which supplies the commercial motor industry in the UK, has been acquired by Meiller for an undisclosed sum.

Boweld's Holywell site, together with all employees, will be retained and integrated into the Meiller network.

Former owners George and Austin Boden will remain in place as managing directors.
