Clifford Chance advises Partners Group on AU$700 million Australian renewable energy platform investment

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised global private markets investment manager Partners Group on the establishment of its AU$700 million Grassroots Renewable Energy Platform (Grassroots). Grassroots currently holds two wind farm projects (the 270MW Sapphire Wind Farm and the 135MW construction-ready Crudine Wind Farm) and intends to construct more than 1.3 GW of new wind and solar power, and battery storage assets across Australia over the next four years.

Freshfields advises Ark Pacific on investment in Comtec Solar through convertible bonds

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer ('Freshfields') advised a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ark Pacific Special Opportunities Fund I, L.P. ('Ark Pacific') on an investment in Comtec Solar Systems Group Limited ('Comtec Solar') by way of convertible bonds due 2021.
 
Assuming the conversion rights attached to the convertible bonds are fully exercised, the conversion shares would represent approximately 17.70 per cent of the issued share capital.

International law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of Noam Ankri as partner in its corporate practice in Paris.

Noam joins from the London office of DLA Piper, where he has been since 2015, after having joined their Paris office in 2013 from the Paris office of Fried Frank. Noam began his career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher in Paris in 2001, prior to moving to New York, where he specialised in private equity before focusing on bankruptcy law. He joined Fried Frank in Paris in 2006.

DLA Piper has announced that Antonio ""Tony"" Calabrese has joined the firm's Real Estate practice as a partner in Northern Virginia.

Calabrese focuses on land use, zoning and complex development projects. He represents major corporate users, developers and national, regional and local operators in all aspects of land use.

Calabrese has obtained zoning and entitlements for some of Northern Virginia's most prominent projects, including Reston and Reston Town Center, Tysons Corner Center Mall, Capital One's Tysons headquarters and One Loudoun in Loudoun County.

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advises Satellite Solutions Worldwide on acquisition of Sat Internet Services

A team led by Dr. Stefan Duhnkrack, Partner at the Hamburg office of law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, advised Satellite Solutions Worldwide Group plc – now named BigBlu Broadband PLC – on the acquisition of Sat Internet Services GmbH (including its Portuguese subsidiary and Italian-based OpenSky S.r.l.). The acquisition required shareholder approval. The transaction is mainly financed via a GBP 12 million share placement on London Stock Exchange and debt secured in Germany by HSBC.
 

King & Spalding Advises Orion Capital Managers on Sale of Office Property “Office 3001” in Hamburg, Germany

King & Spalding advises Orion Capital Managers on the sale of the office property “Office 3001” in Hamburg for a transaction volume of €56 million. The 23.310-square-meter office building was acquired by the German real estate company TLG Immobilien AG.

King & Spalding acted for the seller of the property, a subsidiary of Orion European Real Estate Fund IV, C.V., which is sponsored by Orion Capital Managers. The Frankfurt-based team included senior counsel Michael Prinz zu Löwenstein and associate Michael Debesay.

Orrick Advises Tokyo Trust Capital and Meritage Properties on the Acquisition of an Office Building in D.C.’s Desirable East End

Our Real Estate team represented a joint venture between Tokyo Trust Capital Co., Ltd., the advisor to a Japanese investor, and Meritage Properties, a New York real estate firm, in the $54 million acquisition and $25 million related financing of 1100 G Street, NW, in Washington, D.C. This 110,000 square-foot, eleven-story office building is located in the heart of Washington, D.C.’s East End submarket and is surrounded by some of the city’s best retail and entertainment options, including the Capital One Arena.
