Effective May 1, 2018, insurance expert Dr. Jürgen Wolters (52) will join Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek at its Cologne office. The long-time former partner at Bach Langheid Dallmayr (BLD) had been a member of the Board of Management since January 2016 and Chairman of the Board of property and casualty insurance firm Die Haftpflichtkasse VVaG since 2017.

PARTNER MOVES - Three-partner lateral hire in Los Angeles boosts Hogan Lovells national bankruptcy and restructuring practice

International law firm Hogan Lovells has announced that bankruptcy lawyers Richard Wynne, Bennett Spiegel, and Erin Brady have joined the firm’s Business Restructuring and Insolvency (BRI) practice as partners in Los Angeles. Additionally, Wynne will serve as co-head of the U.S. BRI practice.

Shoosmiths advises on investment into faster broadband for London homes

National law firm Shoosmiths has advised Amber Infrastructure Group, manager of the National Digital Infrastructure Fund (NDIF), on the fund leading a £25 million investment into full-fibre internet service provider, Community Fibre.

Community Fibre will use the investment to roll out full-fibre connectivity to a further 100,000 homes by 2019, covering social and private housing estates across London. The NDIF has invested £18 million, while long term investor Railpen has provided £7 million.

Taylor Wessing advises DF Barnes on acquisition of Burntisland Fabrications Limited

Taylor Wessing has advised D F Barnes, part of one of Canada’s largest industrial construction businesses, on its acquisition of the entire share capital of Burntisland Fabrications Limited (“BiFab”).

The acqusition will also come with new investment to support BiFab’s yards at Methil and Burntisland in Fife and Arnish in the Western Isles. The Scottish Government has taken a minority interest in BiFab as part of this transaction.

WFW advise on Euronav financings

Watson Farley & Williams LLP (“WFW”) acted for Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank in relation to a US$173.5m loan facility for Euronav NV signed on 22 March 2018. This facility provides financing for four ice-class suezmax newbuildings under construction by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., two of which have recently been delivered with the remaining two scheduled for delivery later in 2018.
