KWM Acts Establishment Macquarie's Second Asian Regional Infrastructure Fund

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) advised Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), a division of Macquarie Group, on the close of its second Asian regional infrastructure fund (MAIF2), with $US3.3 billion in investor commitments.

MAIF2 has attracted interest from a diverse group of returning and new investors across Asia-Pacific, North America, Middle East and Europe - with more than $US1.7 billion of capital already committed across toll roads, renewables and petrochemical storage assets in India, the Philippines, Singapore and China.

A team from international law firm Simmons & Simmons, lead by Corporate/M&A partner Dr. Christian Bornhorst, has advised the Luxembourg-based Aperam S.A. on the acquisition of the specialty alloys manufacturer VDM Metals. The transaction corresponds to an Enterprise Value of €596m and is subject to merger control approvals.

Fried Frank Advises Cording on its Acquisition of a German Light Industrial Portfolio

Fried Frank represented Cording Real Estate Group, a German, UK and Benelux real estate investment and asset management firm with €2.3 billion management mandates and 80 employees, on its acquisition of a German light industrial portfolio for €55.7 million from Gramercy Europe, a pan-European real estate investment fund manager.

Cording completed the acquisition, in association with Israeli insurance company and pension manager Migdal, through equity investment without leverage.

Kirkland & Ellis Advises Actera and Esas on US$1.2 BN Sale of U.N. Ro-Ro

Kirkland & Ellis is advising Turkish private equity firms Actera Group and Esas Holdings on the sale of shipping operator U.N. Ro-Ro to DFDS for approximately €950 million (US$1.17 billion). The transaction, announced on April 12, 2018, allows Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS to expand its fleet and network as U.N Ro-Ro operate five freight routes between Turkey, Italy and France.

The Kirkland team was led by London corporate partner David Arnold and associate Amelia Doughty.

Lotte Shopping Closes Equity-Linked Bond

Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm advised BNP Paribas and Nomura as joint bookrunners on Lotte Shopping’s KRW303.6 billion (US$285 million) exchangeable bonds, exchangeable into shares of Lotte Himart, the largest consumer electronics retailer in Korea and a majority-owned subsidiary of Lotte Shopping. Lotte Shopping is one of South Korea’s biggest retailers and a market leader in both department stores and discount stores.
