Sidley has succeeded in obtaining a £41 million judgment for Murray Holdings Limited, an Isle of Man-incorporated subsidiary of Kaupthing ehf, ending a nine-year long High Court action concerning £130 million of proceeds from the 2008 sale of the Somerfield supermarket chain.
Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Acea S.p.A., one of the main multi-utility providers in Italy, on its €1 billion bond issuance in two tranches: €300 million floating rate notes due 2023 and €700 million 1.5% notes due 2027.
The notes have been issued under Acea's €3 billion Euro Medium Term Note Programme, listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and offered and sold pursuant to Regulation S under the Securities Act.

James Hargrove, an English lawyer and specialist in international arbitration, has joined Orrick as a partner. James was previously a partner at Eversheds-Sutherland. He will be based in Orrick’s Geneva office and also work out of the London office.
James is the latest addition to Orrick’s growing international arbitration practice, headed by Charles Adams, the former U.S. Ambassador to Finland who joined the firm last year.
King & Spalding today announced that Kevin Glenn has joined as a partner in the New York office. Glenn, a former partner at KPMG, joins the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group, which includes the firm’s tax practice, to provide U.S. tax advice to U.S. and foreign multinational companies on cross-border financing, joint venture, and M&A transactions.
Gerald Hodgkins has joined Covington as a partner in the Securities Litigation and Enforcement and White Collar Defense and Investigations practices in Washington. Mr. Hodgkins most recently served as an Associate Director in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission and has worked at the SEC’s Enforcement Division since 1997.
Addleshaw Goddard has announced the appointment of Construction heavyweights Paul O' Kane (outgoing national head of construction at DWF) and Paul Barge (outgoing head of DWF's Manchester construction team) to its North West Construction team. Also joining the two partners from DWF are six associates, who also specialise in Construction and Engineering law.
