Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has announced that it will welcome Jay Prasad as a new partner in its Australian tax practice. Prasad joins the practice in October.

Sydney-based Prasad is a transaction tax specialist experienced in advising corporates, financial institutions, private equity, and other managed funds on a wide range of tax-related matters. His expertise spans corporate mergers and acquisitions, restructures, IPOs, capital management programs and financing transactions.

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Mark Seidman has joined the Firm as a partner in the Antitrust practice, based in the Washington, D.C. office.

Mark was formerly the head of the Federal Trade Commission’s Mergers IV Division. In that role, he was the lead government enforcer for transactions in the grocery, retail, consumer products and health care services industries, managing a team of approximately 40 attorneys. He also acted as a first-chair trial attorney with extensive stand-up trial experience in FTC merger cases.

Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, announced that Jason Graham has joined the firm’s Tax Department as a partner in the Dallas office.

Graham’s practice focuses on representing multinational companies on cross-border tax matters involving internal restructurings, M&A and corporate transactions, and financing transactions. He also has experience representing private equity funds on tax matters in connection with fund formation, M&A transactions, and financing transactions. He joins the firm from Baker McKenzie.
