PARTNER MOVES - CMA senior director of mergers to join Freshfields’ global antitrust practice as a partner in London

Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced that Colin Raftery, a leading competition specialist, will join the firm’s antitrust practice as a partner in London.

Raftery will join Freshfields from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), where he has most recently been senior director of mergers for five years. He commenced his career more than two decades ago, having previously worked in private practice and for the Scottish Government. Prior to joining the CMA in 2016, Raftery was a senior associate in the antitrust team at Freshfields.

Addleshaw Goddard (AG) has appointed Caroline Pope as a partner within its London Construction & Engineering team.

Joining the firm from DLA Piper, Caroline has over 35 years of experience within the construction industry, including advising on multi-million-pound litigation, arbitration, adjudication and ADR processes. 

She has advised on a number of major iconic property and infrastructure projects, both within the UK and internationally, handling disputes for developers, contractors, utility and energy providers. 

PARTNER MOVES - Gateley Legal makes senior construction appointment in Guildford

We have appointed Andrew Keeley as a partner at our Guildford office as part of strategic plans to bolster our construction team in the South East.

Keeley spent six years working as a risk analyst for a major UK bank before requalifying as a solicitor and joining Charles Russell LLP as a trainee specialising in construction and engineering law. Following the firm’s merger and rebranding to Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, he was promoted to a partner in 2019 and spent a total of 18 years with the company. 

PARTNER MOVES - Addleshaw Goddard grows Scottish corporate team with double partner hire

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has recruited two new Partners into its award-winning Corporate team as the firm continues to expand its Scottish operation.

Derek McCombe and Iain Sutherland, who join the firm from Dentons, will be based in the firm's Glasgow office, joining existing Glasgow-based corporate Partners Murray Jack and Anna Brown. 

The appointments are the latest in a series of senior hires for the firm north of the Border, with 10 partners joining Addleshaw Goddard over the past 12 months.
