Mayer Brown announced that experienced cross-border disputes lawyer Sarah Garvey has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in London. Sarah has substantial experience representing clients in complex cross-border financial and commercial court proceedings and in arbitration, as well as providing high level strategic advice on litigation and risk issues on transactions. She joins from Allen & Overy.

Orion Mountainspring has rejoined Orrick as a partner in the firm’s Structured Finance group in New York.

Orion brings deep experience in securitizations and other asset-based financings in the fintech and solar energy spaces, aligning with Orrick’s leading practices serving both of those markets, as well as a foundation in consumer lending.

International commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has announced the appointment of 10 new hires to its Hong Kong office, strengthening its marine and shipping practice across the region.

The new hires will join the firm in the coming six weeks. They include three senior appointments, with asset finance partners Janice Lee and Gary Wong, and veteran asset finance and corporate lawyer David Beaves all joining from Ince & Co’s Hong Kong office.

Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons is expanding its Johannesburg office with the hire of new Partners, David Woodhouse and Anthony Crane, Legal Director Mark Thomas, and Senior Associates Nanri Labuschagne and Annelle Kamper.

The new additions, together with other Associates from their teams, will join Pinsent Masons from the highly regarded, boutique Johannesburg law firm, Tabacks, and will help expand the firm’s client service offering in Africa, bringing in expertise in commercial and M&A law, employment and competition law, and commercial dispute resolution.

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery expands its Tax Practice Group with the addition of Frank Jackson as a partner based in New York. As a former trial lawyer and national tax shelter project lawyer for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Frank has a unique understanding of various tax authorities’ priorities and processes. He represents multi-national businesses, non-profits, estates and high global wealth individuals in disputes involving a wide variety of sophisticated tax matters.

Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to expand its litigation capabilities with the addition of Laura Hammargren in the global law firm’s Minneapolis office. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Hammargren served as assistant general counsel at 3M, working on litigation for 3M’s Enterprise Risk Management legal division.

Gawain Hughes, a Chambers-ranked lawyer operating a market-leading investment funds practice, has joined Pillsbury as partner in London. He comes to the firm after a number of years with Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, having also previously led the EMEA funds practice at DLA Piper.
