Reed Smith announced that David Long-Daniels has joined the firm’s Labor & Employment Group as a partner in its rapidly growing Atlanta office.

Formerly with Squire Patton Boggs, Long-Daniels handles high-profile labor and employment and complex commercial litigation trials in courts across the U.S. He is the 17th partner to join the firm’s Atlanta office, which launched in January and now comprises nearly 40 lawyers.

In a move that expands and strengthens Pillsbury’s growing Private Capital and Investment Funds practice and adds important new dimensions to the firm’s market-leading offering to tech investors and startup clients, the firm has welcomed David Holland as a partner in its Washington, DC, office. He joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis.

Elevating its global tax service offerings, Morgan Lewis welcomes partner Andrew Callaghan, who represents clients on the tax aspects of domestic and international corporate and finance transactions, as well as provides structuring and consultancy advice. Andrew arrives from Milbank and is resident in the firm’s London office.

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Josh Simon as global head of the Litigation Practice Group. The group has over 250 litigators representing clients across every business segment in high-impact cases, government investigations, and dispute resolution proceedings.

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Dr. Kate Hillier has rejoined the firm’s Bay Area offices as a partner in the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. Hillier represents public and private life sciences companies on complex licensing and collaboration transactions, with a particular focus on counseling clients on strategic partnering and related intellectual property (IP), business and legal issues.

Piero Carbone has joined Jones Day as a partner in the Corporate Practice. He is based in the Firm's London Office.

Mr. Carbone focuses on cross-border corporate transactions, particularly in the area of private equity. He advises private equity firms on a range of transactions, including mid-market and large leveraged buyouts, public-to-private (P2P) transactions, buy-and-build transactions, and reorganizations. Mr. Carbone also advises private credit funds and other private capital solutions funds managers on their debt and structured investments.

Goodwin announces that Athena Kontosakou has joined the firm’s Antitrust and Competition practice, as a partner in the Brussels office.

This appointment follows the recent opening of the firm’s new office in Brussels and the arrival of leading EU and UK competition law partner Stephen Mavroghenis who will lead the firm’s Brussels office. A team of associates are also expected to join on the ground in Brussels over the coming months.

Goodwin announced that Michael Amalfe has joined the firm’s Private Equity practice, as a partner in the New York office.

Cleary Gottlieb announced that Josh Brody joined the firm as a partner in the U.S. Restructuring Group in New York, advising on a wide range of matters involving U.S. restructurings in and outside of Chapter 11.
