PARTNER MOVES - Shoosmiths makes corporate hire in Belfast as part of growth strategy

Shoosmiths has signalled its intent to widen its offering in Belfast with an ambitious corporate partner hire – an M&A specialist with significant experience in the private equity sector.

Mark Davis has worked with a range of clients, including multinational corporates, private equity funds and the offices of wealthy international families.

His appointment, as a partner, is part of the firm’s growth strategy aimed at acting for larger corporates and funds on higher value transactions.

PARTNER MOVES - DLA Piper strengthens Real Estate offering in Asia with new partner hire

Global law firm DLA Piper announced that Ed Sheremeta is re-joining the firm as a senior Real Estate partner in the Asia Pacific Real Estate practice, based in the Hong Kong office. Ed was previously a partner at DLA Piper in Hong Kong, having joined the firm in 2013.

Ed focuses his practice on acquisitions and dispositions, private equity and institutional investments, limited recourse and secured financings, joint ventures, co-investment platforms, non-performing loans, REITs, asset and property management, sale-leasebacks, restructurings, and general transaction structuring.

Kennedys has appointed partner Tobin Ashby to its growing corporate insurance, financial regulation and products practice as part of a strategic drive to expand its non-contentious services to the insurance sector.

Tobin, who joins from Pinsent Masons and will be based in London, has over 18 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including a decade working in-house for a global insurance group.

Will joins from Knights, which he joined as part of Knight’s acquisition of Turner Parkinson, the firm where he progressed from qualification to partnership in four years, having specialised in this practice area for his whole career to date.
