Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP announced that Jay Hughes has joined the Firm as a partner in the Houston office. He is part of the Firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice.

Mr. Hughes has experience across a wide range of corporate transactions in the energy sector. He has particular knowledge of the power industry, including both fossil fuels and renewables, such as wind and solar, and has advised on some of the most high-profile deals in this space in recent years.

Herbert Smith Freehills has bolstered the bench strength of its market-leading global Financial Services Regulatory practice with the addition of new partner Charlotte Henry.

Based in Sydney, Charlotte will focus on advising clients in regards to Australian banking regulatory matters alongside partners Michael Vrisakis and Fiona Smedley, and consultant Tony Coburn. She will also work with other partners across the firm’s global network to assist clients based in Asia, the UK and Europe. Charlotte joins the firm on 18 May.

Michele joins from Allen & Overy where he has worked for 17 years in Italy and London. He has a significant experience in financial taxation, corporate tax, VAT and tax disputes resolution and an in-depth knowledge of the tax aspects of banking (including securitisation), private equity, project finance, asset finance, energy and structured finance.
