Slaughter and May advised Tenaga Nasional Berhad on its USD $300 million investment in GMR Energy Limited

Slaughter and May, Hong Kong, advised Tenaga Nasional Berhad (Tenaga) in relation to the subscription, through its wholly owned subsidiary Power and Energy International (Mauritius) Ltd. (PEIM), for equity shares in GMR Energy Limited (GMR Energy) and its proposed strategic partnership with GMR Energy in the power production business in India. The subscription will give PEIM a 30% stake in GMR Energy on a fully diluted basis for a total cash consideration of US$ 300 million.

Thommessen has acted for Nordkraft

Thommessen has assisted Nordkraft in its sale of wind power to Fortum, totalling approximately 170 MW.

The transaction consists of the Nygårdsfjellet wind farm, which is already operational, as well as the fully-permitted Ånstadblåheia and Sørfjord projects. Fortum and Nordkraft have also agreed on co-operating on the construction and operation of the wind farms.

Fortum is a leading energy company with focus on development, construction and distribution of renewable energy.

Eurus Energy and YARD ENERGY join forces in expanding wind energy business

Eurus Energy and YARD ENERGY clinched a long-term collaboration for the joint development of wind farm projects. The partnership kicks off with the acquisition by Eurus Energy of a majority stake in the portfolio of operational onshore wind farms in the Netherlands and Finland developed by YARD ENERGY. Baker & McKenzie's Energy Mining & Infrastructure team acted as legal adviser for Eurus Energy in the transactions. The team is led by Weero Koster.

HFW successfully defends US$120m brokerage claim in English High Court

In a claim of originally US$120m, Holman Fenwick Willan LLP (HFW) worked with another leading law firm to successfully defend a subsidiary of China International United Petroleum & Chemicals Co., Ltd (Unipec Beijing), (the subsidiary being Unipec UK) against claims by brokers, Pan Oceanic Charterers Inc. (POC).

POC claimed that a contract of affreightment evidenced a brokerage agreement between POC and owners of the pool of tankers and that Unipec UK and Unipec Asia had tortiously interfered with their rights under that brokerage agreement.

Charles Russell Speechlys LLP were pleased to advise Eliquo Water Group GmbH, a leading European water treatment and engineering solutions company on its acquisition and corporate restructuring of water utility engineering specialist, Hydrok UK Limited.

The deal sees Eliquo establish a presence in the UK municipal water and wastewater technology market. Hydrok will gain access to Eliquo’s technology portfolio and will also retain its established senior management team, who have worked in the business for many years.
