Ashurst advises Infinis on project financing for the construction of Galawhistle Wind Farm in Scotland

Ashurst advised Infinis Energy plc, a leading independent generator of renewable power in the UK, on the £83 million project financing for the Galawhistle Wind Farm on the borders of South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire.

The wind farm, under development since 2007, will have 22 turbines with an installed capacity of 66MW. First exported power is expected by November 2016, and it is anticipated that Galawhistle will generate electricity for 25 years. Santander Global Banking & Markets and Barclays Bank acted as joint lead arrangers.

Hogan Lovells Advises SunEdison on Continuum Wind Acquisition

Hogan Lovells has advised SunEdison, Inc. on the acquisition of Continuum Wind Energy Limited (Continuum) from MSIP International Holdings Cooperatief U.A., a cooperative incorporated in the Netherlands and advised by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure, and Continuum Energy Pte Limited, a company incorporated in Singapore. The transaction signed on Friday, 12 June 2015.

WFW advises Sound Oil in relation to the Tendrara licence, onshore Morocco

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Sound Oil, the Mediterranean-focused upstream oil and gas company, on the development of its business strategy with the Moroccan Oil and Gas Investment Fund (“OGIF”) in relation to the acquisition of part of the Tendrara licence, onshore Morocco.

The onshore Tendrara Licence is a large scale onshore gas discovery with significant exploration upside. It covers a total area of 14,500 square kilometres in northeast Morocco.

DLA Piper obtains consent for world's first tidal lagoon power project

DLA Piper has successfully obtained development consent for its client, Tidal Lagoon Power, to deliver the Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay project in Wales, the world's first tidal lagoon power project.

Tidal Lagoon Power is driving change in the UK energy market by developing infrastructure to harness natural power from the rise and fall of the tides. Its first project, Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay, establishes a scalable blueprint for a fleet of six tidal lagoons to meet up to 8% of UK electricity demand.

GvW Graf von Westphalen advises Scienta Scientific in acquisition of Omicron Nano Technology GmbH

Oxford Instruments plc has sold its shares in the German company Omicron Nano Technology GmbH (Omicron) to the Swedish company Scienta Scientific AB (Scienta).  Group companies on both the side of the seller and the purchaser established a leading joint venture in the area of surface technology in this matter.  GvW Graf von Westphalen advised the Swedish group on its activities in Germany.

McCann FitzGerald advises Mayo Renewable Power on new €180 million biomass power station

McCann FitzGerald has advised Mayo Renewable Power on the planning, development and financing of a new 42 MW, biomass fuelled, combined heat and power generating station in Killala, Co Mayo. The project will require a €180 million investment, with the construction phase to be completed in 2017. The power station will be the largest biomass power station to have been built in Ireland to date.

Mayo Renewable Power is backed by an American investment company based in New Jersey, Weichert Enterprise.

Noerr advises Chinese investor on the purchase of the solar wholesaler Energiebau Solar Power

Noerr has advised Solar Power, Inc. on the purchase of the assets of the insolvent Cologne-based Energiebau Solar Power GmbH. The system provider and photovoltaic wholesaler Solar Power GmbH is thus taken over by the strategic investor Solar Power, Inc., an international project developer with sites in all relevant markets.

White & Case Advises CGG on Public Exchange Offer over Convertible Bonds

White & Case LLP has advised CGG, a leading geoscience company, on its public exchange offer for all its convertible bonds maturing in 2019 for a total amount of €360 million.

CGG offers to exchange 2019 convertible bonds for convertible bonds maturing in 2020. The terms of the offer are two 2019 convertible bonds for five of 2020 convertible bonds being issued. The offer has been approved by the French Financial Markets Authority (Autorité des marchés financiers) on May 28, 2015 and runs from June 1 to June 19, 2015.
