Olswang advises German media group Hubert Burda Media on its investment in UK online retailer Notonthehighstreet.com

International technology, media and telecoms law firm Olswang has advised German media group Burda on its acquisition of a significant minority stake in Notonthehighstreet.com, one of the UK’s fastest-growing online retailers. The Series E funding round, raising £21 million, was led by Burda, with support from Notonthehighstreet.com's existing investors, including Industry Ventures, Eight Roads and Index Ventures.

VimpelCom and Wind obtain merger control approval in landmark telecommunications deal

Allen & Overy has advised VimpelCom, parent company of Wind, on its 50/50 joint venture with CK Hutchison, parent company of Italian mobile operator 3 Italia. Merger control approval was granted today by the European Commission.

The merger – the largest in Italy since 2007 – combines Italy’s third and fourth largest telecommunications companies to create a leading Italian mobile network operator and comes at a time of increased merger control scrutiny following the appointment of Margrethe Vestager as EU Competition Commissioner in October 2014.

Pinsent Masons advises LoopUp Group Plc on its placing and admission to AIM

International law firm Pinsent Masons has advised LoopUp Group plc on its £8.5m placing and admission to AIM.

LoopUp is a global software-as-a-service provider of remote meetings and is headquartered in Shoreditch, London. It employs approximately 100 people across offices in London, San Francisco, New York, Boston and Hong Kong.

The Pinsent Masons team advising on the transaction was led by corporate partner Russell Booker supported by Adam Murphy, Chris Watts, Philippa Ward and Charles Baker.

Orrick Advises IronPlanet On Sale To Ritchie Bros.

An Orrick team advised longtime client IronPlanet in its $758 million acquisition by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the world’s largest industrial auctioneer.

Under an agreement announced this week, Ritchie, based in Canada, will buy IronPlanet, a privately held leading online marketplace for used heavy equipment and other durable asset sales. In announcing the deal, Ritchie executives said the combined company would provide customers worldwide with a larger menu of platforms to sell, buy and list equipment online or on-site.

(Shanghai Film) was successfully listed on the main board of Shanghai Stock Exchange (Stock code: 601595) with its initial public offering of A-shares in August 2016. Shanghai Film issued 93.5 million shares at RMB10.19 per share, raising approximately RMB952.765 million. It was another project that has regional and sectoral significance since KWM advised the Shanghai-based portal website Eastday Network on its successful listing on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations in 2015.
