Fieldfisher advised Merkle, a leading US-based technology-enabled, data-driven performance marketing agency, on its bank-funded acquisition of DBG, a UK-based independent performance marketing agency that specialises in optimising client data to make compelling connections to drive growth and improve marketing and business performance. DBG has a wide range of European and international clients, including Renault, Sony, Ted Baker, Center Parcs, RBS and VW.

Fieldfisher has advised longstanding client Access Intelligence plc on its disposal of Due North Limited to Proactis Holdings Limited in a cash deal worth £4,500,000. Due North Limited provides a cloud hosted procurement platform to clients throughout the UK, predominantly in the public sector. Due North's platform processes an annual procurement spend of approximately £100 billion.

Success for Gowling WLG in latest stage of Glee dispute

The Court of Appeal has ruled that trade marks registered as a series are compatible with EU law.

The decision, handed down today (25 May) marks another victory for Gowling WLG client Comic Enterprises Limited (Comic) in its long-running dispute with media giant Twentieth Century Fox (Fox) over the TV show "Glee".

Partner Cerryg Jones and Senior Associate Nick Smee advised Comic, owner of The Glee Club comedy and music chain. Douglas Campbell QC acted as counsel.

Baker & McKenzie assisted AND Inc., a Japanese SPD* business support system supplier, with the launch of "Smile20," a cash flow improvement support service that utilizes a special purpose company to provide assistance for medical institutions across the country. Baker & McKenzie provided legal advice on the securitization of medical materials and medicines accounts receivable, as well as on structured financing arrangements.

Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier advises Vivendi on a 1.5 billion euros bond issuance made up of two tranches with maturities of 5 and 10 years, respectively.

The first tranche in an amount of 1 billion euros bears interest at a rate of 0.75% per year and matures in 2021. The second tranche in an amount of 500 million euros bears interest at a rate of 1.875% per year and matures in 2026.

The notes will be admitted to trading on the regulated market of Euronext Paris.

Burges Salmon advises Ascent on £1.1bn Rotary Wing contracts

Defence sector experts from Burges Salmon have advised Ascent (a 50:50 joint venture between Babcock and Lockheed Martin) on its £1.1bn deal under the overarching United Kingdom Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) contract with the Ministry of Defence.

The deal comprises contracts with:

* Airbus to deliver 32 training helicopters (29 H135s and 3 H145s) along with through life support
* Lockheed Martin and Babcock to deliver the ground based training equipment and infrastructure to support the delivery of the rotary wing training capability
