Murray Hill Properties Acquires Parsons Building

Paul, Weiss client Murray Hill Properties, in partnership with affiliates of Soho Properties Inc., Hampshire Hotels Management LLC and Flintlock Construction Services, acquired the Parsons New School for Design building at 560 Seventh Avenue in the Times Square area. The acquisition was financed by Colony Capital. The partnership plans to demolish the existing improvements and construct a $300 million mixed-use project that will include a new Dream Hotel and approximately 20,000 square feet of retail.

Wong & Partners Advises Malakoff on its Proposed Acquisition of Sime Darby's Malaysian Power Business

Wong & Partners, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International in Malaysia, advised Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), Malaysia's largest independent power producer (IPP), on two agreements with Sime Darby Energy Sdn. Bhd. (Sime Darby Energy), for the acquisition of Sime Darby Berhad's Malaysian power business.

DLA Piper advises John Laing on the Dungavel wind farm acquisition and project financing

DLA Piper has acted for John Laing on the acquisition of Dungavel Wind Farm from E.ON and its successful project financing. Dungavel Wind Farm is a 13 turbine, 26MW on-shore wind farm development in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, which reached financial close on 4 April 2014.

The turbine manufacturer is Vestas and the transaction involved a power purchase agreement with Statkraft.

SH advises Lansen on the USD8 million acquisition of Sicorten Plus

Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised Lansen Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (Lansen) on the acquisition of the rights to sell Sicorten Plus, a cream used to treat inflammatory skin diseases, in China from Novartis AG (Novartis), a Swiss multinational pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland. Lansen acquired the product for an initial USD8 million on 28 March 2014.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises ContourGlobal on the acquisition of a 5 MW solar portfolio from Sorgenia

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has advised ContourGlobal on the acquisition of a 5 MW solar portfolio from Sorgenia Solar S.r.l., a subsidiary of the leading Italian energy company Sorgenia S.p.A. The solar portfolio is located in the Sardinia, Sicilia and Calabria Regions and is owned and managed by four project companies.

The acquisition falls within the scope of ContourGlobal’s strategy, which is to consolidate its presence in the Italian renewable market with a proposed target of 100MW.

Macfarlanes advises Intu on £867.8m acquisition of three shopping centres

Macfarlanes acted for Intu Properties Plc on the acquisition of three shopping centres from Westfield for a consideration of £867.8m.  The centres are in Derby, Sprucefield (Northern Ireland) and Merry Hill (West Midlands). In the case of Merry Hill, Intu acquired a 50 per cent interest, with the remaining Merry Hill interest being owned by QIC, an Australian fund.  The interests were held in a complex trust/partnership/corporate structure and the firm led on the acquisition of those interests and all underlying real estate.

Triton relies on Linklaters in acquisition of the auxiliary components business of Alstom’s Thermal Power division

Munich, 1 April 2014. Linklaters advises the private equity investment firm Triton on the acquisition of ALSTOM’s auxiliary components business for thermal power plants. Funds advised by Triton have entered into an agreement to acquire the business for a purchase price of about €730 million. The transaction is expected to close by September 2014.
