International law firm Clifford Chance has successfully led its client Canary Wharf Group to victory in its £500 million court case against the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in the High Court in London.
Mr Justice Marcus Smith handed down judgment today (20 February 2019), comprehensively in Canary Wharf Group's favour, rejecting the EMA's case that their 25-year lease of premises in Canary Wharf would be legally "frustrated" as a result of Brexit, the judgment concluded as follows:

Clifford Chance US represented LATAM Finance Limited, as issuer, and LATAM Airlines Group S.A. ("LATAM"), as guarantor, in the Rule 144A / Regulation S offering of $600,000,000 of 7.000% Senior Notes due 2026 issued and sold by LATAM Finance Limited, a finance subsidiary of LATAM, and guaranteed by LATAM. The proceeds are expected to be used for general corporate purposes.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises on financing of 81MW Hedet Wind Power Project in Finland

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised KFW IPEX Bank GmbH and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (PUBL) on the financing of the Hedet wind power project, which has been developed by Neoen and Prokon Finland. The financing was signed on December 19, 2018.

Hedet wind farm is based in Finland, and the output of the farm will be sold to Google under a corporate PPA. The wind farm will generate 81MW of electricity, with Nordex acting as turbine supplier and EPC contractor.

Shoosmiths residential development experts advise Kier Living on prestigious Cardiff site

UK law firm Shoosmiths has advised long-standing client Kier Living on its successful bid to provide exclusive, high-quality homes in one of Cardiff’s largest and more prestigious residential developments.

The Churchlands development site in Lisvane, Cardiff, will be transformed into a 1,000-home site with a new school, district centre and extensive areas of public open space, Kier Living will build up to 330 homes on the site from two-bedroom starter homes to five-bedroom properties.

Building work is expected to start later this year.

TLT advises Thrive on windfarms sale

TLT has advised renewable energy investment company Thrive Renewables on the real estate and planning aspects of the sale of two operational windfarms to infrastructure fund manager Equitix.

The windfarms – in North Wales and Suffolk – have generated enough clean electricity to power over 9,000 average UK homes annually and will continue under the new ownership.

Thrive will use the proceeds to build new renewable energy capacity in the UK.

Mid Europa acquired Bambi in 2015 together with Imlek and Knjaz Miloš, the leading regional dairy and natural mineral water companies, respectively, forming the consumer group Moji Brendovi.
