Mr. Lorenz has extensive experience in the life sciences sector with a particular focus on patent prosecution, counseling, and IP transactions. He joins from Arnold & Porter.

Frankfurt am Main, 14 February 2019 – The international law firm BEITEN BURKHARDT has advised a subsidiary of Frankfurter Volksbank   Germany's second largest Volksbank   on the acquisition of the 'Voltapark' project in Bockenheim, one of Frankfurt's city districts, by way of a forward deal. The seller has engaged BFL Investment to take over the entire project development as general contractor for the building project, and to manage the sales process. The parties have agreed to keep the transaction volume confidential.

Burges Salmon’s Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency team has advised private equity firm Causeway Capital Partners on its acquisition of Patisserie Valerie, a UK café chain which went into administration in January 2019.

Hamburg – EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG and Energiekontor AG have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in relation to a planned solar park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The plant will be built on a site of around 120 hectares in the Dettmannsdorf/Marlow area near Rostock. It will produce up to 85 MW of power a year to meet the needs of around 25,000 households.

Linklaters advises Airport Authority Hong Kong on its proposed USD notes issuance to fund Three-runway System development

Linklaters advised the Airport Authority Hong Kong (the “AA”) on the pricing of its issuance of US$500 million 3.45% notes due 2029 (the “Notes”) under its US$8 billion Medium Term Note Programme (“MTN Programme”). The Notes are expected to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and mark the first public offering bonds from the AA since 2003. HSBC and Citigroup are the joint lead managers for the offering.

Smurfit Kappa's High-Yield Senior Notes Offering

Cravath represented the initial purchasers, led by Citigroup and NatWest Markets, in connection with the EU400 million Regulation S high-yield senior notes add-on offering of Smurfit Kappa Acquisitions Unlimited Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Smurfit Kappa Group plc, one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based packaging products. The notes were listed on the Irish Stock Exchange. The transaction closed on February 4, 2019.

White & Case Advises Goldman Sachs on Acquisition by Credito Fondiario and Elliott of €7.8 Billion NPL Portfolio

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Goldman Sachs, as financial advisor to Credito Fondiario and structuring agent to Elliott, on their successful bid to acquire a portfolio of non-performing loans (NPLs) from Banco BPM for a nominal amount of €7.8 billion, and establishing an NPL servicing platform to manage the acquired portfolio and 80 percent of any new NPLs originated by Banco BPM in the next ten years.
