PARTNER MOVES - Orrick Adds Top CLO Team to Market-Leading Structured Finance Practice

Orrick has announced that Howard Goldwasser and Skanthan Vivekananda, leading authorities on collateralized loan obligations and other structured products, have joined the firm as partners in our Structured Finance Group. Howard and Skanthan join from Arnold & Porter and will be based in New York and Los Angeles, respectively.

PARTNER MOVES - Trowers & Hamlins bolsters London construction litigation team

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has recruited partner Louise Elmes into its construction litigation team.  She is based at the firm's head office in London.

Louise joins from Fieldfisher where she was lead of the contentious construction group and acted as Deputy Head of Construction.

Louise has over 16 years' experience and specialises in contentious construction, construction-related professional negligence and contentious shipbuilding.  She is recommended by the Legal 500 UK for contentious construction and professional negligence.

PARTNER MOVES - National law firm Weightmans has appointed Construction and Engineering expert Ian Hardman as Partner

Based in the firm’s Manchester office, Ian is the latest specialist construction lawyer to join the Weightmans’ national Built Environment team after a series of new hires in the last year. He joins the firm from Brabners, where he headed the non-contentious construction team.

Ian has a wide range of experience providing advice upon all different types of procurement options and documentation in relation to large building and engineering projects across many sectors including education, retail, maritime, developers/investors and energy.

London – Mayer Brown is pleased to announce that it will expand its contentious investigations and regulatory capabilities following the recruitment of Chris Chapman, who will join the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in London as a partner on 20 March 2019.

Chris will join Mayer Brown from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, where, as head of contentious insurance regulation, he has played a lead role in the development and growth of that group and the wider contentious financial services practice in the UK and internationally.

PARTNER MOVES - Norton Rose Fulbright expands projects and energy team in Mexico City

Norton Rose Fulbright has expanded its projects and energy capabilities in Mexico City with the addition of international partner César Fernández, senior counsel Liliana Anzaldua and associate Angélica Alvarez.

Fernández and Anzaldua come from Mexican state-owned oil company Pemex, while Alvarez comes from Hogan Lovells. Fernández served as legal vice president for projects and businesses for Pemex, and Anzaldua was commercial vice president for the company’s logistics division.

Clifford Chance advises on Maoyan Entertainment's IPO, China's top movie-ticketing app

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Maoyan Entertainment (Maoyan) on its US$250 million initial public offering and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Beijing-based Maoyan is the top movie-ticketing app in China, set to become the world's biggest market for movies.

China Co-Managing Partner Tim Wang led on the deal with partners Amy Lo and Fang Liu, and consultant Christine Xu. They were supported by a cross-border team consisting of senior associates Hao Wu and Queenie Tong, and associates Hongzhou Chen, Erxin Lu and Haoze Zheng.
