Herbert Smith Freehills advises Vicinity Centres on sale of 11 shopping centres for A$631 million

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Vicinity Centres on the sale of a portfolio of ten shopping centres to SCA Property Group (SCP) for A$573 million.

Settlement of nine of the shopping centres (Bentons Square and The Gateway in Victoria, Lavington Square and West End Plaza in New South Wales, North Shore Village and Oxenford Village in Queensland, Kalamunda Central, Stirlings Central and the Warnbro Centre in Western Australia) occurred on 10 October 2018. Settlement of Currambine Central in Western Australia occurred on 20 November 2018.

Macfarlanes provides construction advice on the luxury Regent’s Crescent redevelopment

Macfarlanes has advised Regent’s Crescent Property Holding (Lease B) Limited on the construction aspects of the redevelopment of the John Nash designed, Grade 1 listed, Regent’s Crescent into over 70 luxury apartments and mews houses.

Macfarlanes has advised on the letting of the building contract to JRL Group and the construction aspects of the subsequent sharia complaint financing of the development with a value of more than £350m.

Osborne Clarke and Maddocks advise on toy company acquisition

Law firms Osborne Clarke and Maddocks have advised global toy company Moose Toys on its acquisition of UK toy company Worlds Apart.

Under the deal, Moose Toys acquired all of Worlds Apart’s assets and brands, which include the Scruff-a-Luv, Ready Beds and Kid Active brands.

Moose Toys, an Australian company, is the creator of popular toy brands Shopkins, Little Live Pets, Pikmi Pops, Happy Places, The Grossery Gang, and Mighty Beanz, and has recently announced its collaboration with Epic Games for the release of the Fortnite Battle Royale Collection.

David is an experienced Transport and Infrastructure lawyer, with considerable experience advising on railway franchises, infrastructure development and operation, rolling stock procurement and regulation. Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP further expanded its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice with the strategic addition of Andrew B. Schwaab as a shareholder in its Silicon Valley office. Schwaab joins the firm from Knobbe Martens.

Schwaab is the third intellectual property shareholder to join the firm in California in 2018. Joining earlier in the year were Elizabeth Valentina in Los Angeles and Gretchen A. Ramos in San Francisco.

PARTNER MOVES - Four Partners Join King & Spalding with Regulatory Expertise from FINRA

King & Spalding has announced that Mirella deRose, Russell Johnston, Richard Margolies and Michael Watling joined as partners in the Government Matters practice and the Securities Enforcement and Regulation team in the New York office. All four partners served as senior attorneys with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Department of Enforcement.
