PARTNER MOVES - Trowers grows Real Estate team in Exeter

Top 40 law firm Trowers & Hamlins, has recruited partner Nicholas Burt to its real estate team in Exeter, the firm's second largest office, after its headquarters in London.

Nicholas joins from Foot Anstey and brings over 13 years' experience advising on all aspects of private and commercial developer work. He has vast experience in the private residential developer market, working with a number of large regional housebuilders. He also has expertise in commercial development work and advising land owning clients and estates.

PARTNER MOVES - CMS strengthens Tax division with Jörg Schrade

Munich – Jörg Schrade is joining CMS as a partner at the start of October 2018, moving from Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He brings to CMS extensive experience of advising international corporations and private equity investors on matters relating to national and international tax law. His main focus is on restructuring, cross-border operations, tax inspections, tax disputes and corporate acquisitions/disposals. Jörg Schrade will operate out of the CMS Munich office as part of the Tax division.

Diok RealEstate acquires real estate portfolio with support from Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek

Diok RealEstate AG, a client of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, acquired a real estate portfolio consisting of six properties in Hattingen, Bochum, Neuss, Ulm, and Freiberg am Neckar. The properties have a total area of some 32,200 square meters and a market value of EUR 52.75 million. The properties were acquired in a share deal, thus by the acquisition of the property companies holding the properties. The purchase price payment served to repay the seller’s previous financing.

Milbank Advises The Independent State of Papua New Guinea on its Historic US$500M Debut Sovereign Bond Issuance

Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP acted as international counsel to The Independent State of Papua New Guinea (“PNG”) on its debut sovereign bond issuance of US$500,000,000 8.375% Notes due 2028.

PNG has been working towards its first international bond deal for nearly two decades and the transaction comes after four prior attempts during that time. The issuance attracted strong investor interest, drawing over $3.3 billion in orders at final pricing at a time of particular volatility for emerging market credits.

Clifford Chance advises Rabobank and EKF on bespoke EKF-backed project financing of the 163.4MW Kråktorpet onshore wind farms in Sweden

A joint team from the Amsterdam and Düsseldorf offices of international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. and the lenders on the EKF-backed project financing of the 163.4MW Kråktorpet (Big Zlatan) onshore wind farms in Sweden.

This transaction marks one the first project financings for onshore wind farms with bespoke EKF guarantee structures in Sweden co developed by Rabobank and EKF, and some of the first international project financings involving Dutch-law governed finance documents.

A team from Clifford Chance Amsterdam has advised Rabobank on the financing of a student housing development in Groningen, acquired by KKR and Round Hill Capital. KKR and Round Hill Capital (“Round Hill”) recently announced that their joint venture acquired the land and is forward-funding the development of a 698-bed purpose-built student accommodation (“PBSA”) scheme in Groningen, the Netherlands.
