Slaughter and May advised Sands China Ltd. in relation to its issue of US$5.5 billion senior notes

Slaughter and May, Hong Kong, has advised Sands China Ltd. (Sands China) in relation to its issue of US$5.5 billion senior notes listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, comprising US$1.8 billion 4.6000% senior notes due 2023, US$1.8 billion 5.125% senior notes due 2025 and US$1.9 billion 5.400% senior notes due 2028.

The joint bookrunning managers in respect of the senior notes issue are Barclays Capital Inc., Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated.

Mayer Brown advises HSBC on commercialising ‘Know Your Client’ software solution

Mayer Brown advised HSBC on a project to sell and monetise a “Know Your Client” software solution.

The solution combines robotic process automation and machine learning technologies to significantly reduce the time it takes to check the compliance status of clients. The technology was created for and owned by HSBC and is to be developed and marketed to banks and other financial services companies through a joint venture with outsourcing company EXL.

White & Case Advises NORD/LB on Financing of Subsidy-Free Spanish Solar Park

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank, as mandated lead arranger and lender, on the €100 million financing for the construction of the 174 MWp Don Rodrigo solar park in Spain.

The plant will be built by BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG, and is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2018. It is being built in an area covering around 265 hectares near Seville in southern Spain and will generate approximately 300 GWh of solar power annually.

Boris Dürr, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Munich office, advised C.H. Beck Verlag on the acquisition of AWA-AUSSENWIRTSCHAFTS-AKADEMIE GmbH. Beck Verlag took over all shares from AWA’s former shareholders. Following the acquisition, AWA will continue to operate under the previous company name with extended management. With this acquisition, Beck Group is expanding its training offering, which already includes seminar providers such as Beck Academy, MWV Seminare, and AWS Working Group for Economic and Tax Law.
