PARTNER MOVES - King & Spalding Recruits Jonathan Ivinson as New Tax Partner

King & Spalding has hired international and domestic tax expert Jonathan Ivinson as a partner based in the Geneva office.

Ivinson advises clients on the planning and implementation of investment and asset holding structures. His client base covers high net worth individuals, trusts and multi-national corporations in a number of sectors, including financial, private equity, entertainment, hospitality and technology. Ivinson has developed a special focus on family offices and family wealth advice.

PARTNER MOVES - Gareth Williams has joined Blake Morgan as a Partner in the London Real Estate team

Gareth joins the firm from DLA Piper where he was a Legal Director. He specialises in advising clients on high-value mixed use and residential development and regeneration schemes along with student housing, build to rent and development finance.

He began his career with Gouldens (Jones Day), qualifying in 2003 into their commercial property department. He then spent a year in Halliwells in Manchester before joining Dentons in 2005. In 2013 he joined RPC before moving with their development and construction team to DLA Piper in July 2014.

Baker McKenzie acts for Mars Australia to Match 100% of its Electricity Use with Renewable Energy by 2020

Baker McKenzie has successfully assisted its longstanding client, Mars Australia in signing a 20 year power-purchase agreements (PPA) with Total Eren to generate the equivalent of 100% of Mars’ electricity from renewable energy by 2020.

Total Eren is developing and will build the Kiamal Solar Farm near Ouyen, Victoria which will be operational in mid-2019 and will add solar power to the national grid. The Mars PPAs will also facilitate the planned build of a second renewable project by Total Eren in NSW.

Baker McKenzie acts for JLMs on $175 Million Gryphon Investment Fund ASX Float

Baker McKenzie acted as legal adviser to National Australia Bank Limited (NAB)  and Morgans Financial Limited (Morgans) in their roles as joint arrangers and joint lead managers for the flotation of the Gryphon Capital Income Trust as a listed investment trust on the ASX. The Fund successfully raised A$175 million.

The responsible entity for the Fund is  One Managed Investment Funds and the Fund will be managed by Gryphon Capital Investments.

Arbonia Issues EUR 125 Million Promissory Notes

Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie advised Swiss building materials maker Arbonia AG on their issuance and placement of EUR 125 million promissory notes (Schuldscheine) with Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg as joint arrangers. The promissory notes were issued with terms of 5, 7 and 10 years each, bearing interest at a fixed rate. The notes were taken up by institutional investors as well as by major banks and savings banks in Germany and abroad.

 After nearly 60 years of compartmentalised presence in Morocco, Procter & Gamble has decided to group together all its Moroccan assets and staff – nearly 250 employees – within a single subsidiary: IMM, the oldest of its entities in Morocco.

Paris - Mayer Brown advised McCourt Global with regard to its acquisition of Epi-Plage, a prestigious hotel located in the Gulf of Saint Tropez. Founded by Jean Castel and the industry owner Albert Debarge, the “Epi-Plage” is an iconic hotel and a premier destination for celebrities and artists.
