Kirkland & Ellis has announced that leading intellectual property lawyer Nicola Dagg will join the Firm’s London office as a partner.

Ms. Dagg brings more than 20 years of experience handling complex intellectual property disputes and advisory work. Her international practice focuses on patent litigation and breach of confidence disputes. She has particular experience in dealing with the legal and commercial aspects of highly scientific and technologically advanced matters.

PARTNER MOVES - Morgan Lewis Adds Former DOJ Assistant Chief to Antitrust Team

Morgan Lewis welcomes Ryan M. Kantor, former assistant chief of the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Healthcare and Consumer Products Section, as a partner. He will be resident in the firm’s Washington, DC, office.

At the Justice Department, Mr. Kantor oversaw antitrust investigations and enforcement actions involving healthcare, insurance, consumer products, and other sectors. He led or supervised some of the Antitrust Division’s largest and most important investigations, lawsuits, and enforcement actions in a wide variety of industries.

PARTNER MOVES - Global law firm Reed Smith has announced the appointment of Nick Harris as a partner in its London Real Estate practice

Nick joins from Mishcon de Reya, where he has been a legal director in the firm’s real estate department since 2015.

Nick’s area of focus is commercial real estate, with a particular emphasis on complex development work and high-value investment sales and acquisitions. He is also a keen supporter of innovation within the industry and recently served as a mentor to Orbital Witness, a proptech start-up company.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises HSBC on US$416 million H-shares placement of BAIC Motor Corporation

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited as placing agent on the 420 million H-shares placement of BAIC Motor Corporation Limited.

Beijing-based BAIC Motor Corporation has raised net proceeds of US$416 million for the H-shares placement. BAIC Motor Corporation Limited is principally engaged in the manufacture and sales of passenger vehicles, engines and auto parts in China. It also established joint ventures with international brands including Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai Motor.

Osborne Clarke advises Kathrein on its conversion into a European company (SE) and group restructuring

Osborne Clarke has advised communications technology specialist, KATHREIN, on its entire group restructuring.
The most recent and important component of the restructuring was the conversion of the KATHREIN-Werke KG into a European company (SE), called KATHREIN SE. Osborne Clarke has also established the group’s future parent company.
All of KATHREIN-Werke KG’s assets were transferred to KATHREIN SE. Rosenheim will remain the company’s headquarters. Shares in the company will remain with the family.

Travers Smith advises Livingbridge on its acquisition of the Coversure Group

Freshfields advises on the £2.2bn sale of ZPG

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has advised ZPG Plc (‘ZPG’) on its proposed acquisition by Silver Lake. The acquisition, which will be effected via a scheme of arrangement, values ZPG at approximately £2.2 billion and is subject to customary conditions including FCA and European Commission approval. It is expected to close late in the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2018.
