PARTNER MOVES - Karima Hudson joins Stephenson Harwood as partner

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its corporate finance practice with the return of partner Karima Hudson. She was previously a partner at the firm between 2015 and 2021.

Karima is a corporate lawyer with a particular focus on the healthcare sector, from care home operators to fertility clinics and investors in the space, and her arrival will further enhance the firm's corporate strength in London.

Irwin Mitchell has added to its HNW and international tax team in London with the appointment of partner, Matthew Briggs. Matthew joins from boutique private client practice, The Burnside Partnership, and specialises in personal tax, estate and succession planning for UK and international individuals and families.

He has a particular interest in advising owner-managed and family-owned businesses on tax, succession, governance and capacity issues as well as assisting with philanthropic planning.

European law firm Fieldfisher is expanding its European presence with a new office opening in the Austrian capital Vienna.

The move is part of the firm's European growth strategy, designed to give Fieldfisher greater multi-jurisdictional capacity and capability in Europe.

The Vienna office will initially comprise four partners, one director and four lawyers, with a total headcount of 17 people. It will be located in the heart of the Austrian capital, opposite the city's iconic St Stephen's Cathedral.

Global law firm Ashurst has appointed IP expert Sunny Kumar as a partner in the London corporate practice, in another boost to its Digital Economy team.

Sunny is a senior IP lawyer, with significant experience advising on IP matters across the financial services, technology, life sciences and media sectors, in particular working on complex IP rich transactions and managing large trade mark portfolios. Notably, he has worked in-house within the BBC's IP transactions team. He joins as UK head of IP.
