Guadalupe Sampedro, an international data protection lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, has joined the firm as partner in London. Sampedro specializes in fintech and payments, and she also has significant experience resolving complex regulatory matters for leading multinational companies in other industries. The addition of Sampedro complements the growth of the firm’s preeminent global cyber/data/privacy practice. She joins Cooley from Bird & Bird, where she was a partner in its privacy & data protection group in both London and Madrid.

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that its Frankfurt office will be joined by real estate partner Boris Strauch on 1 February.
Boris joins the firm from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, where he has spent the last four years as a partner within the firm's real estate practice. Prior to this, he spent several years as a real estate counsel with Dentons Europe.

Squire Patton Boggs has further expanded its Global Corporate Practice in London with the appointment of partner Julian Thatcher. Mr. Thatcher joins the firm from private equity (PE) investment firm MHMK Capital Group, where he was an executive in a sub-Saharan African PE fund carrying out transactional and legal work alongside origination and business development. He was previously at Macfarlanes LLP.
