PARTNER MOVES - Bird & Bird appoints finance expert Caroline Bruyant Bonde as new partner in Copenhagen

International law firm Bird & Bird has appointed Caroline Bruyant Bonde as a new partner in the Finance & Financial Regulation practice in Copenhagen, effective 1 January 2025. This marks the firm’s continued strategic growth trajectory into the new year.

Caroline is a dual-qualified lawyer in Denmark and England and Wales, with 15 years of international transactional experience in finance, asset management, financial regulation, shipping, and energy in private practice and in-house, based in Copenhagen and London.

PARTNER MOVES - Weil welcomes back Sunny Singh to serve as restructuring department co-chair

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Sunny Singh has returned to the Firm as Co-Chair of Weil’s market-leading Restructuring Department, based in the New York office.

Sunny, who joined Weil in 2008 and was a partner in the Restructuring Department from 2017 to 2023, arrives from another international law firm where he was Head of their U.S. Company-Side Restructuring team. At Weil, he will serve alongside Matt Barr, Gary Holtzer and Jeffrey Saferstein as Co-Chair of the global Restructuring Department, comprising 140 lawyers around the world.

PARTNER MOVES - Hogan Lovells continues APAC and PE expansion with the addition of private equity and funds trio in Singapore

Global law firm Hogan Lovells announced the expansion of its Singapore office and private equity and funds practice area with the addition of three highly acclaimed and experienced partners, Siew Kam Boon, Timothy Goh and Thomas Kim, slated to join the firm in January 2025.

The trio will join from Dechert LLP and will become part of the firm’s Private Equity and Funds practice, based in Singapore. Siew Kam will also assume the role of Head of Private Equity for the APAC region.

Winston & Strawn LLP announced the addition of Joshua (“Josh”) Hafenbrack as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Josh joins the firm as a partner in the Litigation Department with a focus in antitrust matters.

Josh represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation and antitrust matters. A recent senior litigation counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Josh brings significant experience litigating antitrust cases and representing clients in a wide variety of industries, including technology, media, and telecommunications.
