Ruckus Wireless Wins Netgear Patent Infringement Case

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP secured a significant victory on behalf of Ruckus Wireless, Inc., an innovator and world leader in Wi-Fi access points.  On October 31, 2013, a Delaware federal jury returned a verdict for Ruckus, finding that Ruckus’ Wi-Fi access points did not infringe plaintiff NETGEAR, Inc.’s U.S. Patents No. 6,621,454 and 7,263,143.  The ’454 and ’143 patents generally involve technology for detecting, diagnosing, and then mitigating periodic interference in wireless communication devices.   
 

Mills & Reeve advises Ubisense Group plc on Japanese acquisition

Mills & Reeve advised Ubisense Group plc on its acquisition of Japanese company Geoplan Interworks K.K. for a maximum consideration of 564.7m Japanese Yen (c.£3.4m).

The Mills & Reeve team led on the UK aspects of the transaction with support from their SCG Legal relationship firm in Japan, Matsuo & Kosugi, who advised on the transaction from a Japanese perspective.

Simpson Thacher Represents Chilean Telecommunications Company, Entel, in US$1 Billion Inaugural Offering of Senior Notes

Simpson Thacher recently represented Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (“Entel”), one of Chile's largest telecommunications providers, in a Rule 144A / Regulation S offering of US$1 billion of 4.875% Senior Notes due 2024. This transaction was Entel’s inaugural offering of securities in the international capital markets. HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. acted as representatives of the initial purchasers in the offering.

Ashurst advises Xerox on the acquisition of call center operator Invoco

Ashurst advised IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing service provider Xerox on the acquisition of all shares in Invoco Holding GmbH ('Invoco'). The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Invoco Group employs around 1,800 staff in ten client service centres in Berlin, Göttingen, Halle, Hamburg, Kassel, Kiel, Lübeck, Magdeburg, Schwerin and Wismar. The group's head office is located in Hamburg.

Taylor Wessing advises PA Group on sale of MeteoGroup to General Atlantic

Taylor Wessing has advised PA Group on the sale of its full-service weather business, MeteoGroup, to General Atlantic. MeteoGroup is Europe's largest independent weather service, providing high quality weather intelligence to businesses from the shipping industry and energy traders, through to construction companies and the media. MeteoGroup is also the developer of WeatherPro, Europe's leading paid-for weather app.

Olswang advises on AIM IPO for leading mobile commerce enabler

Olswang has advised MoPowered, a leading mobile commerce enabler, on its admission to trading on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM). The placing, which was oversubscribed, raised £4.0 million in total, with gross cash proceeds for the Company of £3.64 million. MoPowered's market capitalisation on admission, based on the placing price, was approximately £15.8 million.

Olswang advises Endemol on $13m partnership with social casino gaming company

Olswang has advised Endemol, the world's largest independent television and digital production company, on its $13m investment in Plumbee, a digital gaming business that creates, operates and markets free-to-play social games on mobile platforms and social networks such as Facebook. Plumbee's existing investor, Idinvest Partners, also participated in this round. The deal values the business at $40 million.
