Squire Patton Boggs Advises China-CEE Fund on Acquisition of Energy 21

Squire Patton Boggs’ Warsaw and Prague offices have jointly represented China Central and Eastern Europe Investment Cooperation Fund (China-CEE Fund) in its acquisition of Energy 21 a.s. from Mid-Europa Partners and Darby Private Equity for an undisclosed amount.

Energy 21 a.s. is a Czech investment company specializing in the construction and operation of solar power plants.  It is the largest Czech-based independent operator of photovoltaic power plants in Central and Eastern Europe, with an installed generation capacity currently of around 61 megawatts.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers on £340 million acquisition of UK second largest DIY retailer Homebase

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Wesfarmers and its wholly owned subsidiary Bunnings on the landmark acquisition of Homebase from UK-listed Home Retail Group for £340 million.

Wesfarmers is a diversified conglomerate listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) with a market capitalisation of approximately A$44 billion.

Homebase is the second largest home improvement and garden retailer in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with reported revenue of over £1 billion for the 12 months ended 29 August 2015 and currently has 265 stores. 

McDermott Represents Olam International in its $275m Acquisition of Amber Foods

LONDON (January 18, 2016) - McDermott represented Olam International Limited in the acquisition of Cayman Island registered Amber Foods Limited, which through its wholly owned subsidiary Quintessential Foods Nigeria Limited owns the former wheat milling and pasta manufacturing assets of the BUA Group in Nigeria. The BUA Group is a leading diversified foods and infrastructure conglomerate, and one of the top five wheat millers in the country.

Dechert Advises Orange in Acquisition of Airtel’s Subsidiaries

Dechert LLP advised Orange, a leading international telecom group, in connection with the signing of a share purchase agreement relating to the acquisition of 100% of Airtel’s subsidiaries in Burkina Faso and Sierra Leone. The Oscarson family and the company’s former CEO will retain a significant shareholding together with Litorina and other key personnel within the company’s management.
