DLA Piper advises on commonwealth small states trade finance facility launced at CHOGM 2018

DLA Piper has advised on the development and structuring of a new finance scheme to help small states to obtain easier access to international trade finance, which was launched on Tuesday 17 April at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London.

India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Malta have provided $5 million of capital to the scheme, called the Commonwealth Small States Trade Finance Facility. Standard Chartered Bank and the Bank of Baroda are the facility managers.

DWF advises on the creation of multi-channel price comparison company

DWF has advised Inflexion Private Equity in their creation of Comparison Technologies, through the buyouts of Energy Helpline and UK Web Media.

The two businesses were combined to create an independent price comparison site which enables customers to compare prices and identify the best deals for energy, broadband, TV and mobile phone products. The new site is said to be the only independent site in the UK which provides multi-channel price comparison across this range of home services.

The Dublin office of international legal business DWF has acted for commercial German-based bank Norddeutsche Landesbank (NORD/LB) on a groundbreaking financing in the Irish social housing sector. The €50m transaction involved the devising of an innovative limited-recourse project finance structure for one of the largest Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) in Ireland, Oaklee Housing.

Freshfields advises CVC Capital Partners on the sale of Sky Betting & Gaming to The Stars Group Inc. for $4.7bn

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has advised CVC Capital Partners (‘CVC’), one of the world’s leading private equity and investment advisory firms, on the sale of Sky Betting & Gaming (‘SBG’) to The Stars Group Inc. (‘The Stars Group’). The transaction is in cash and stock, and is valued at $4.7bn. This combination will result in the world’s largest publicly listed online gaming company.
 

Gowling WLG advises on major Bermuda development

Two major infrastructure projects in Bermuda are a step closer to completion following an extensive planning process in which Gowling WLG served as a key legal adviser.

The Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC) recently launched a request for qualifications (RFQ) process to plan and build a national energy generation facility and an international marine cargo port. Both sites are to be redeveloped on property previously occupied by US and Canadian military forces, known as Ships Wharf.

Osborne Clarke advises Community Fibre on £25M financing round led by NDIF

Osborne Clarke has advised Community Fibre, the ultra-fast full-fibre Internet Service Provider, on a £25 million new financing round led by the National Digital Infrastructure Fund (NDIF) to rollout full-fibre connectivity to a further 100,000 homes by 2019, covering social and private housing estates across London. A follow-on investment will be made by leading long-term institutional investor, RPMI Railpen.

Baker McKenzie and Mazzoni Regoli Cariello Pagani assist Sky Italia with Open Fiber deal

The law firms Mazzoni Regoli Carriello Pagni and Baker McKenzie assisted Sky Italia with negotiating an agreement between Sky Italia and Open Fiber for the launch of a fiber service starting from summer 2019. The agreement with Open Fiber aims to "accelerate the growth of fiber and pay TV in the long term," alongside Sky’s existing satellite offer. The accord will give Sky Italia access to the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) ultrafast broadband network Open Fiber is laying in more than 271 Italian towns and cities by 2022.
