Michael joins the team from Stafford-based ORJ Law where he was a partner for 15 years. Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has further expanded its presence in Lincoln with a duo of hires, including heavyweight residential conveyancing partner Ed Atkin. 

With more than 18 years’ post-qualified experience, Ed joins the firm from Wilkin Chapman in Grimsby. In his new role, he will be responsible for growing Shakespeare Martineau’s Lincoln offering and building its residential conveyancing team in the city.

Shaffer is a first chair trial attorney with 15 years of experience representing clients in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and around the country in a variety of real estate litigation matters including construction litigation, land use litigation, leasing disputes, and eminent domain. Shaffer also has experience advising clients in government contract and general business litigation.

Lily Zhang has joined the Firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice. She will be based in the San Diego Office.

Ms. Zhang is a strategic counselor in a complex arena where biotechnology and computer science overlap.  She develops patent portfolios for clients conducting R&D in artificial intelligence and machine learning, structural biology, drug discovery, cybersecurity and cryptography, medical technologies, network hardware and software, and electronic payment systems.
