PARTNER MOVES - Weil to add M&A partner Sarah Flaherty in London

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Sarah Flaherty will join the Firm as an M&A partner in the London office.

Sarah is currently a corporate partner at Linklaters and advises on public and private M&A transactions as well corporate restructurings, joint ventures and equity offerings across a wide range of industries.

While a partner at Linklaters, Sarah spent two years on secondment at the UK Takeover Panel where she worked as a senior case officer regulating a number of high-profile public M&A transactions.

PARTNER MOVES - Arnie Fridhandler rejoins Weil as private equity partner in New York

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced that Arnold (Arnie) Fridhandler is rejoining the Firm as a partner in the global Private Equity practice, based in the New York office.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced that Katherine B. Forrest—a nationally preeminent litigator, former federal district judge for the Southern District of New York and former deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division—has joined as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. Ms. Forrest, who will be resident in New York, will handle major investigations, complex litigation and trials, and significant criminal and regulatory enforcement defense matters.

Mayer Brown announced that Richard Snyder joined its Antitrust & Competition practice as a partner in Washington DC, where he will focus on antitrust litigation and regulatory matters. He joins from Freshfields.

PARTNER MOVES - Davis Polk to launch EU antitrust practice in Brussels

Davis Polk announced that the firm is launching a European antitrust practice in Brussels. The practice will be led by Jürgen Schindler and Frances Dethmers.

“The European Commission is a critical antitrust authority. We are excited to be able to offer our clients sophisticated antitrust capabilities with respect to matters under EU law,” said Neil Barr, Davis Polk’s Managing Partner. “We are thrilled to welcome Jürgen and Frances to Davis Polk.”

The firm’s office in Brussels will open in 2023.

International law firm RPC announced that commercial property lawyer Jon Ely has joined the firm in Bristol as a Partner in the real estate practice. 

Ely joins the firm from Capital Law, where he spent the past six years. Prior to that he spent 16 years at City law firm Lewis Silkin. He has represented investors, financiers, occupiers and developers in a wide range of real estate transactions including acquisitions, property elements of corporate deals and hybrid commercial and real estate projects, with landlord and tenant work being a key feature of his practice.
