Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Denis Charles as a partner in the real estate practice. He joins K&L Gates’ Paris office from Pinsent Masons LLP, and is the latest in a series of strategic additions to the office that also included the earlier arrivals of complex commercial litigation partner Barthélemy Cousin and team and corporate partner Raphaël Bloch. Charles is accompanied in his move by associate Julien Chabanat.

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Kate O'Scannlain, former Solicitor of Labor at the U.S. Department of Labor, has joined Jones Day as a partner in its Labor & Employment Practice and will be based in Washington.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Michael J. Desmond has joined the firm as a partner in the Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. offices.  Desmond, who recently served as the Chief Counsel of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and Assistant General Counsel in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will focus on tax controversy matters.

Dechert LLP announced that Steven Engel has rejoined the firm after completing his service at the Department of Justice as the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel. Eversheds Sutherland welcomes Partners Daniel von Brevern in Dusseldorf and Thomas Freund in Munich.

Eversheds Sutherland has continued its expansion with the appointments of two new Partners: Daniel von Brevern joins the global law firm from McDermott Will & Emery, further strengthening its competition service offering in Dusseldorf, while Thomas Freund joins Eversheds Sutherland’s finance practice group in Munich from Latham & Watkins.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced that Austin Pollet has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate Department, resident in San Francisco. Mr. Pollet’s practice focuses on all aspects of private equity transactions, with a particular emphasis on deals involving technology and technology-enabled companies.

Mr. Pollet is the sixth partner to join Paul, Weiss in its new location in the Bay Area, and the second corporate partner in the office.

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced the addition of Kenji M. Price to its Litigation practice in the Washington, DC, office. A former US Attorney and Army Ranger, Kenji joins the Firm’s growing list of former federal prosecutors who add both an invaluable skillset and perspective as they help clients navigate sophisticated white-collar matters. Kenji is the most recent hire, following the addition of former Assistant US Attorney Julian André in Los Angeles and Barrister Simon Airey who leads Investigations in London.
