Taylor Wessing advises Tritax Big Box REIT on £370m acquisition of db Symmetry

Taylor Wessing has advised Tritax Big Box REIT plc ("Tritax") on its acquisition of an 87% economic interest in db Symmetry, which owns one of the UK’s largest strategic land portfolios for the development of Big Box real estate assets and related logistics facilities.

The acquisition, which attributes an enterprise value of £370 million to db Symmetry, is being funded with a mixture of equity and cash raised pursuant to a placing and open offer underwritten by Jefferies.

Ashurst advises banks on the refinancing of The Packaging Group

Ashurst advised Commerzbank AG and Oldenburgische Landesbank AG as lenders on the refinancing of The Packaging Group (TPG), a portfolio company of investment firm HQ Equita. TPG was established in 2018 by merging FAWEMA and HDG (previously: Steindl Group) by HQ Equita. The company is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-grade packaging machines, in particular for food packaging bags made from paper or plastics.

Dentons advises medical technology start-up Kaia on financing round

Munich—Global law firm Dentons advised Munich-based healthcare start-up Kaia on a financing round. Lead investor is the London-based venture capital firm Balderton Capital, which has invested in more than 100 companies and currently manages more than US$2.6 billion in assets. Existing shareholders and several business angels also participated in the funding round.

Matheson Advises NSH Nordbank on Financing of Clogheravaddy Wind Farm

Matheson recently advised international lender, HSH Nordbank AG (“HSH Nordbank”), on its financing of a proposed onshore wind farm near Clogheravaddy, County Donegal.  Clogheravaddy Wind Farm is being developed by ABO Wind, a leading renewable energy developer in the Irish and European markets.  Matheson worked closely on this transaction with Hogan Lovells (Hamburg) who advised HSH Nordbank as German law counsel on the transaction.

 

Freshfields advises Fuller, Smith & Turner on the sale of its premium beer business

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) is advising Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC (‘Fuller’s’), which operates pubs, hotels and a premium beer business, on the sale of its entire premium beer business to Asahi Europe Ltd (‘AEL’), a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd (‘Asahi’), for an enterprise value of £250m on a debt free, cash free basis.

We have bolstered our Southeast Asia operation with the hire of partner Akramjeet Khaira and his team in Singapore and the promotion of Ian Johnston to partner in Bangkok.

Akramjeet joins our Singapore office from Kelvin Chia Partnership where he was head of the firm’s insurance litigation department. He becomes our 13th partner in Singapore, which has a team in excess of 70.

In Singapore, we operate as Kennedys Legal Solutions following the 2015 joint law venture agreement between Kennedys Singapore LLP and Singapore law firm, Legal Solutions.
