International law firm McDermott Will & Emery announced the appointment of Stéphane Dionnet as partner in its office in Brussels. Stéphane joins McDermott’s global antitrust practice and his arrival will further bolster the Firm’s European competition capabilities as he will be working alongside seasoned specialists including Jacques Buhart, Hendrik Viaene in Brussels, Christian Krohs and Carina Kant in Düsseldorf, Frédéric Pradelles and Matthieu Adam in Paris and the Firm’s US antitrust team in Washington, New York and Chicago.

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Nicholas McQuaid has rejoined the firm’s Washington, D.C. and New York offices as a partner in the White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice and member of the Litigation & Trial Department. McQuaid most recently served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the US Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. Prior to that, McQuaid led the Criminal Division for the first six months of the Biden Administration, serving as Acting Assistant Attorney General from January to July 2021.

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its corporate tax practice with the arrival of Shofiq Miah as a partner. He joins the firm in London.

Miah is a corporate tax specialist with a broad practice covering both direct and indirect taxes. As well as advising clients in relation to transactional tax matters including M&A, equity and debt capital raisings and other financing arrangements, he has significant experience of handling complex tax disputes and tax advisory matters.

Francisco is an M&A expert who specialises in insurance, reinsurance and pension funds and plans.

DLA Piper has appointed a new London-based Projects Partner in Karim Maalioun. Karim, who specialises in the Energy and Natural Resources sector, boasts a wealth of international Projects work with a 22 year-strong expertise in Middle Eastern and pan-African matters, having advised on deals in over 35 African jurisdictions to date.

Bevan Brittan has added further strength to its rapidly expanding Energy and Resource Management Group with the recruitment of the latest Partner to join the national law firm this year.

Renewable energy and property law specialist Harriet Murray Jones joins the team from Harrison Clark Rickerbys, where she was Head of Energy and Renewables.

Charles Russell Speechlys announces the appointment of Swiss qualified lawyer, Benoît Pasquier. Benoît joins as a Partner within the Firm’s sports team and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Benoît specialises in commercial sports law, and has a wealth of experience in issues relating to sponsorship, media rights and merchandising agreements and regularly advises clients on sports integrity issues, such as competition and anti-doping.

BCLP has appointed Partner Martin Wilmsen to strengthen its multidisciplinary Real Estate Practice in Frankfurt.

Martin, who holds a law degree as well as an MBA from the International Real Estate Business School (IREBS) at the University of Regensburg, previously worked as counsel for DLA Piper.
