The candidate pool for non-contentious financial services regulatory associates from one of the top 50 UK or top 50 US firms in London is c.300 individuals. The majority of these are focused on non-contentious financial services regulatory work, but c.20% do a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters. The c.300 lawyers break down by post-qualification experience (PQE) as follows:

- 45% are 0-4 PQE

- 20% are 5-7 PQE

- 35% are 8+ PQE

The candidate pool for corporate tax associates from one of the top 50 UK or US firms in London is c.400 individuals. This breaks down by post-qualification experience (PQE) as follows:

- 40% are 0-4 PQE

- 25% are 5-7, and

- 35% are 8+ PQE

Hiring in the corporate tax market is consistent with c40 hires at the top 50 UK and US firms in London. Predominantly, these hires were made by c.25 law firms and, of these firms, c.50% are US firms.

Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international technology and energy law firm, announced the arrival of Michael Torosian to the firm’s San Francisco office. Reed Smith announced that Chauncey M. Lane has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Corporate Group in the firm’s Dallas office. Lane is the fifth lateral partner to join the firm since the office opened in May with 16 lawyers. The Dallas office has doubled in size since its opening and now has 31 lawyers.

Lane was formerly a partner in the Dallas office of Husch Blackwell, and before that was an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission.
