DLA Piper advises BTG in acquisition of Novate Medical

DLA Piper represented BTG plc, a global specialist healthcare company, in its acquisition of Novate Medical Ltd., a medical device company focused on the prevention of pulmonary embolism in patients at high risk of blood clots.

BTG plans to launch Sentry, a device developed by Novate that is designed to prevent blood clots in the leg from traveling to the lungs in patients at risk of pulmonary embolism, in the second half of its current fiscal year.

Eversheds Sutherland completes significant outsourcing for TSB Bank Plc

Eversheds Sutherland has successfully completed a significant outsourcing of TSB Bank Plc’s facilities management services across its entire UK portfolio.

The global legal practice assisted TSB with all the legal aspects of the outsourcing, including a new five-year contract for the provision of facilities management services with ISS Facility Services Limited. The contract has the potential to be increased for a further four years.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corporation on its US$600 million acquisition

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corporation on its US$600 million acquisition of a 21.9% equity interest in Anglo American Quellaveco S.A., (AAQSA), which owns the US$5.3 billion Quellaveco copper project in Peru.

Mitsubishi previously held an 18.1% interest in AAQSA. Following completion of the transaction, Mitsubishi’s interest has increased to 40%, with Anglo American retaining 60%.

Quellaveco is one of the largest copper deposits in Peru and globally, and is estimated to contain 1.1 billion tonnes of ore.

Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has hired Matthew Dening, co-head of Sidley Austin's London global finance team and its former London Managing Partner, to join its London Structured Capital Markets practice. He re-joins the Firm having left as a partner in 2004. The Firm has also hired Haden Henderson, a US Capital Markets lawyer, as a partner in its growing Corporate Finance team in London. He joins Matthew Cox, Nick O'Grady and Bevis Metcalfe who joined Baker McKenzie from Ropes & Gray earlier this year.
