The Hogan Lovells law firm advises the Gdansk Shipyard Group on the sale of the Gdansk Shipyard and GSG Towers

The Warsaw office of Hogan Lovells advised the Gdansk Shipyard Group sp. z o.o. on the sale of 81.05% of the shares in Stocznia Gdanska S.A. (the Gdansk Shipyard), and 50% of the shares in GSG Towers Sp. z o.o. to Agencja Rozwoju Przemyslu S.A. (the Industrial Development Agency).

As of July 19, 2018, Stocznia Gdanska S.A. (the Gdansk Shipyard) and GSG Towers Sp. z o.o. (a manufacturer of wind turbine towers) are now fully owned by companies from the Industrial Development Agency Group.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises Angola on its third sovereign bond issuance

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised The Republic of Angola on the third of its international bond issuances totalling US$5 billion.

The latest transaction entailed the issuance of US$500 million 30-year bonds to be consolidated and form a single series with Angola’s existing US$1.25 billion 30-year bonds issued in May 2018. The new bonds have been admitted to trading on the regulated market of the London Stock Exchange.

The joint lead managers were Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs International and ICBC.

Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in $2 Billion Senior Notes Registered Offering by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group

Simpson Thacher recently represented the underwriters in the SEC-registered offering by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (“SMFG”) of $2 billion aggregate principal amount of its senior notes in three tranches due 2023 (floating rate), 2023 and 2028 (fixed rate). SMFG intends the senior notes to contribute to its total loss-absorbing capacity (TLAC) when TLAC requirements are introduced in Japan.

International law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner has announced the appointment of Mukul Chawla QC to lead its UK corporate crime team in London, part of the firm’s Global Investigations practice. He joins BCLP on 8 October.

Mukul is a heavyweight fraud and white collar crime lawyer with three decades of experience both as a prosecutor and as defence counsel. McCann FitzGerald Advises on Sale of Generali Worldwide Operation

We acted as Irish counsel for Generali on the sale of Generali Worldwide Insurance Company Limited and Generali Link Limited. 

Generali Worldwide is a Guernsey-based provider of life insurance-based wealth management solutions and contributed about €35m euros to Generali group’s operating result last year. Generali Link, based in Ireland, is a shared-service provider focused on fund and policy information.  The agreement will ultimately be worth around €409 million to Generali, with a further €10 million potentially payable on completion.
