PARTNER MOVES - Bevan Brittan Hires Partner To Head Information Law Team

Bevan Brittan LLP has appointed James Cassidy as a Partner to lead its specialist information law team.

The team is expanding to meet growing demand from clients for advice on issues including data privacy, General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’), data security breaches, cyber security, freedom of information and confidentiality.

James was previously Head of Legal at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He is re-joining the firm, having trained and qualified while at Bevan Brittan.

International law firm Bird & Bird today has strengthened its global aviation finance capabilities with the addition of Richard Sharman as a London-based partner in its Banking & Finance Group / Aviation & Defence Sector Group.

Richard joins from the London office of Clifford Chance, where he was a senior associate.  

Richard handles aviation and other transportation transactions on behalf of financial institutions, aircraft leasing companies, airlines, arrangers and equity investors.

Clifford Chance advises Merck on global strategic immuno-oncology alliance with GlaxoSmithKline

International law firm Clifford Chance has advised Merck KGaA (Merck) on the conclusion of a global strategic cooperation agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The two companies will work together closely in the field of immuno-oncology. The cooperation concerns the bifunctional fusion protein M7824 developed by Merck which is currently in clinical development and aims to further the treatment of difficult-to-treat cancers.

DLA Piper has advised HanseMerkur Grundvermögen AG on the acquisition of the “Office Center Überseestadt” for one of its open-ended special real estate funds from companies of the Gustav Zech Foundation.
 
The asset is located in Bremen’s Überseestadt district, one of Europe’s largest urban development projects approximately three kilometres west of Bremen city centre. The building complex comprising a rentable floor space of roughly 22,000 square metres, is being developed in two construction phases.
