PARTNER MOVES - Noah Joshua Phillips, former FTC commissioner, to join Cravath

Cravath announced that Noah Joshua Phillips, former Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), will join the Firm as a partner.

Mr. Phillips will co-chair Cravath’s Antitrust Practice and advise clients across a range of antitrust issues, including mergers, business conduct and compliance, litigation and investigations. He will be based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

PARTNER MOVES - Structured finance lawyer Tariq Zafar Rasheed joins Reed Smith as a partner in London

In a move that enhances its global finance practice, global law firm Reed Smith announced that structured finance lawyer Tariq Zafar Rasheed, will join the firm as a partner in its Financial Industry Group in London. Rasheed joins the firm from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP), where he led its derivatives practice.

PARTNER MOVES - HFW continues global disputes growth with Hong Kong partner hire

Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has continued to grow its global disputes practice with the hire of Kevin Warburton in Hong Kong.

Kevin's practice spans international arbitration, commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and inquiries, and privacy/cyber. He joins HFW from Tanner De Witt, where he was a partner and Head of Arbitration. Kevin was previously at Slaughter and May in London and Hong Kong.

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has continued its expansion of its corporate team with the addition of Martyn Kolankiewicz.

Martyn, who will be based in the firms' London office, specialises in corporate restructuring and insolvency and has vast experience in advising banks, insolvency practitioners, funds, corporates and all stakeholders of insolvencies on restructuring, formal insolvency, turnaround situations and recovery of assets. 

He represents office holders, lenders and distressed companies in business rescue and corporate turnarounds.

PARTNER MOVES - Dentons hires leading banking and finance partner into growing Dublin office

Dentons, the world's largest law firm, has announced the recruitment of Matthew Cahill in Ireland - the second banking and finance partner to be hired into the firm's rapidly expanding Dublin office in the space of a few weeks.

Matthew is currently Head of Structured Finance & Securitisation and Debt Capital Markets at William Fry. Previously a partner at Clifford Chance in London, he advises on structured finance, securitisation, capital markets and derivative transactions as well as general banking and finance matters.

PARTNER MOVES - Clyde & Co opens in Calgary to further presence in Canada

Global law firm Clyde & Co has announced that it has opened an office in Calgary, Canada through the hire of four partners. 

The opening of an office in Calgary consolidates the firm’s presence in western Canada and indeed across the country’s major commercial and legal centres, following its opening in Vancouver in 2021 when it merged with local insurance and construction firm SHK Law Corporation.
